Catbalogan City, Samar – In the spirit of the holiday season, the College of Education’s Social Studies Society made a heartwarming initiative to recognize and reward the unsung heroes of daily transport in Catbalogan City – the tricycle drivers. The activity, held as part of their community outreach program, provided grocery packages to drivers who demonstrated fairness and professionalism in their service.

Some of the members of the Social Studies Society pretended to be ordinary travelers and went to different parts of the city. The selection criteria were straightforward but significant: drivers who collected only the prescribed fare and did not select passengers were recognized as worthy recipients.

Before disclosing their true intentions, the members in disguise had sincere conversations with the drivers. After the trip was over, they gave the astonished drivers a carefully chosen grocery package filled with necessities for the holiday season.

The Social Studies Society stressed that their goal is to foster in students a sense of social responsibility and community involvement, which extends beyond the classroom. By concentrating on tricycle drivers, they brought attention to a field that is sometimes disregarded yet is essential to day-to-day life in the city.

The community has responded well to the activity, with many praising the creative strategy and the ideals it upholds. In order to promote a giving and thankful culture that truly captures the spirit of Christmas, the College of Education intends to keep up these kinds of programs.

The Social Studies Society's gesture, which brings joy and optimism to those who selflessly serve the community, serves as a reminder that even tiny acts of kindness can have a huge impact as the holiday season approaches.
