CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines — Samar Colleges, Inc. (SCI) has been honored with the QAHE Excellence in Education Award by the International Association for Quality Assurance in Pre-Tertiary & Higher Education (QAHE) for 2026-2027, in recognition of its continuing commitment to academic quality, institutional development, innovation, and community service.

The recognition followed SCI’s submission of its institutional initiatives and practices in quality assurance, innovation, and educational development after the institution was invited by QAHE in May 2026 to be considered for the recognition.

Among the initiatives presented were SCI’s efforts to strengthen its quality assurance system through dedicated offices and institutional processes, its implementation of ISO-aligned practices, harmonization of outcomes-based syllabi, digital learning initiatives, curriculum development, research, and programs supporting students and the community.

These initiatives reflect SCI’s continuing efforts to strengthen its systems and improve the delivery of education across its Basic Education, Tertiary, Graduate, and Technical-Vocational programs.

QAHE’s recognition highlights SCI’s continuing development since its establishment in 1949, acknowledging the institution’s service to generations of learners in Catbalogan City, Samar, and nearby communities through its Basic Education, Tertiary, Graduate, and Technical-Vocational programs.

Over the years, SCI has continued to pursue improvements in its academic programs, faculty and student services, infrastructure, research, and institutional systems. Its quality assurance efforts have likewise expanded through dedicated offices and processes designed to support continuous improvement across the institution.

Samar Colleges, Inc. has also strengthened its use of technology in education through digital learning platforms, such as the Learning Management System, Instructor’s Portal, and other initiatives aimed at making teaching and learning more responsive to changing educational needs. Partnerships with local and international institutions have further supported SCI’s efforts in research, innovation, and broader educational engagement.

For Samar Colleges, the recognition adds another milestone to its continuing journey toward institutional excellence and reinforces its commitment to its vision of becoming the leading center of learning in the Island of Samar.
