NAVAL, BILIRAN, Philippines - Samar Colleges, Inc. (SC) marked a new milestone as it participated in the 6th International Poverty Conference (iPovCon) 2025 for the first time as one of its newly recognized institutional partners. The two-day event, held at Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) from October 8 to 9, 2025, is hosted by Samar State University (SSU) in partnership with BiPSU and the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DepDevR08). The conference brought together higher education institutions (HEIs), government agencies, and development organizations to explore innovative approaches to poverty alleviation and inclusive sustainability.

Representing the School President, Mr. Roque D. Villarin, Director for Campus Communication and External Services, attended the event, signifying SC’s growing commitment to advancing education-based and technology-driven solutions that address poverty and promote sustainable community development.

Themed “Technology-Driven Solutions for Poverty Alleviation and Inclusive Sustainability,” iPovCon 2025 served as a platform for collaboration among HEIs across the region and beyond. Through its participation, SC aims to strengthen partnerships that foster research, innovation, and community engagement aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—particularly Goal 1 (No Poverty), Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure).

As one of iPovCon’s newest partners, the institution reaffirms its readiness to support future projects, research, and community programs that advance these shared goals—reflecting its continuing commitment to education that transforms lives and uplifts communities.

Samar Colleges was officially welcomed into the iPovCon network following a virtual Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing held on September 5, 2025, via Zoom Web Conferencing.
