Samar Colleges, Inc. (SC) began 2025 by gearing up for ISO 9001:2015 Certification through a two-day orientation seminar held on January 16–17, 2025, at the SC Auditorium. The event gathered key officials and select academic and non-academic personnel to equip them with essential knowledge and skills for the certification process.

The seminar was facilitated by Mr. Kevin T. Castillon, Operations Head and Training Expert of ASC Management System Consultancy and Allied Services. As a recognized ISO certification auditor and accredited tutor, Mr. Castillon provided an insightful overview of the ISO 9001:2015 standard, emphasizing its importance in fostering continuous improvement and ensuring quality assurance.

ISO 9001:2015, an international standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), specifies requirements for a Quality Management System (QMS). This standard helps organizations demonstrate their ability to consistently deliver products and services that meet customer expectations and regulatory requirements.

Participants engaged in interactive sessions and hands-on exercises, including identifying objectives, assessing risks, addressing issues, and formulating action plans. These activities provided attendees with practical skills to implement, maintain, and enhance quality management processes across the institution.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Pedrito G. Padilla, Senior Vice President for Academic Programs, encouraged participants to work together as “one system” in integrating the seminar’s teachings into their daily operations. He expressed confidence that this initiative would serve as a foundation for achieving SC’s certification goals and advancing its mission of providing high-quality education.

This event marks a strong start to the year as the institution strives to meet international standards and deliver excellence in education and institutional management.
