BORONGAN CITY, Philippines — Twenty (20) farmer parents of enrolled Samar Colleges Inc.-Bachelor of Science in Business Administration students attended the Information Caravan on Coconut Scholarship (CoScho) Program on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the Eastern Samar State University (ESSU) Gymnasium, Borongan City, Eastern Samar. They were accompanied by SC’s Scholarship Programs Coordinator, Ms. Cherry Angelie Florentino.

The information caravan gathered participants from Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs), State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), and Private Higher Education Institutions (PHEIs) across Samar provinces—serving as a venue for stakeholders to better understand the opportunities available under the CoScho for qualified coconut farmers.

Resource speakers from the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA)-NCR and representatives from provincial offices of the PCA across Samar led the discussion, focusing on the eligibility criteria and documentary requirements for applicants under the program. The speakers also presented the priority degree programs covered and announced that there are currently 867 slots allocated for Region VIII, encouraging the participants to take advantage of the educational assistance.

The initiative was a result of the collaborative efforts of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the PCA in its commitment to expanding access to higher education for coconut farming families.

Samar Colleges, Inc., by extending its support and participating in these initiatives, reaffirms its commitment on empowering beneficiaries through scholarship opportunities while promoting accessible and quality education.
