CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines — Led by the Office of Programs Development and Quality Assurance (PDQA), the institution-wide Learning Management System (LMS) orientation series concluded with its final session for the College of Graduate School (CGS) faculty on September 20, 2025, at the Smart Classroom, Basic Education Building.
Serving as the resource speaker, Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso, Senior Vice President for PDQA, provided a comprehensive demonstration of Samar Colleges’ Moodle-based LMS, including its features such as uploading materials, creating quizzes, and tracking student progress, among others.
Dr. Cardoso explained that the platform’s flexibility makes it particularly beneficial for graduate students, since it allows them to engage with coursework and evaluations at times that fit their schedules, which also supports independent learning.
She also highlighted how the platform supports independent learners and enables outcomes-based teaching and learning, both essential in graduate-level education.
Dr. Rhodmanrick V. Roma, faculty member, shared his impressions of the orientation, expressing gratitude to Samar Colleges for the innovation, which he noted would benefit both faculty and students alike.
Present during this activity were CGS Dean Dr. Nimfa T. Torremoro, faculty members, and personnel from both CGS and PDQA.
This series of orientations underscored Samar Colleges’ commitment to innovation and academic excellence, ensuring that all departments—from basic to graduate education— are equipped to deliver technology-driven, flexible, and engaging learning experiences for the students.
