Catbalogan City, Philippines - The office of Programs Development and Quality Assurance (PDQA) of Samar Colleges continued its series of Learning Management System (LMS) orientations with a session for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS), attended by 15 participants, on September 16, 2025, at the Smart Classroom.

In her welcome remarks, Mrs. Carlota S. Uy, CLAS Faculty President, stressed technology’s key role in today’s education. “Education is evolving as it is, and technology is basically now the heart in the art of its evolution. Through LMS, we are not only efficiently refining our lessons and resources but also empowering both educators and learners to effectively collaborate, connect, and grow in ways that may be new but truly promising,” she said.

Dr. Meldrito B. Valles, Dean of CLAS, was also present and introduced Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso, Senior Vice President for PDQA, as the resource speaker for the orientation.

In her presentation, Dr. Cardoso emphasized that LMS integration is essential for enhancing instructional delivery, improving student performance, and ensuring business continuity. She walked faculty members through key features of the system, such as course creation, uploading of learning materials, online quizzes, gamification, grading, and tracking of student performance.

Dr. Cardoso added that the LMS supports students’ one-hour weekly asynchronous classes by providing flexible access to lessons, resources, and assessments.

The program concluded with closing remarks from Mr. Bryan S. Alejan, CLAS faculty member, who shared that “Every innovation we adopt is an opportunity to grow. The LMS is one of our stepping stones towards academic excellence and a more connected learning community.”

This session is part of a continuing series of LMS orientations, which began at the start of the academic year, aimed at standardizing digital course delivery and integrating technology into teaching. Previous sessions have been conducted with other colleges, and the series will conclude with the College of Graduate Studies (CGS) as the last department scheduled for orientation.
