Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso, Senior Vice President for Programs Development and Quality Assurance (PDQA), and Ritchelle D. Jabagat, staff of the Institutional Research and Quality Assurance Office (IRQAO), represented Samar Colleges, Inc. at the Training Workshop on Statistics in Research Methodology at the One Central Hotel, Cebu City, held from November 28 to 30, 2024.

The training aimed to develop advanced proficiency in using JASP (Jeffreys’s Amazing Statistics Program), a free and open-source program for statistical analysis. Participants gained skills and proficiency in using the software through discussions on Session Regression Models, specifically introductory topics in Mediating Effects, Moderating Effects, Path Analysis, Structural Equation Modeling, and Factor Analysis. Additionally, the training focused on interpreting and presenting statistical results effectively.

This training workshop was hosted by the Association of Scholarly Editors (ASE) in cooperation with the Philippine Association of Institutions for Research (PAIR), Inc. with Dr. John Vianne Murcia, Vice President of Jose Maria College, as the Resource Speaker. They were joined by other academicians, educators, researchers, directors, faculty, research committee members, and DepEd teachers from various public and private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and national government agencies in the Philippines.

This valuable training aligns with the school's commitment to fostering research-driven decision-making and effective institutional research. This participation reflects the school’s proactive stance on developing its academic community’s technical expertise.

To share their newfound knowledge and skills, Dr. Cardoso and Ms. Jabagat will conduct an echo seminar for faculty and personnel involved in research and related courses.
