Samar Colleges, Inc.’s College of Education secured Second Place in the Regional Pre-Service Teachers’ Congress 2026 Teaching Pageant held on February 28 at the Leyte Academic Center, emerging as one of the top performers among nine (9) entries from well-known Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across the region.

Representing the institution was Jeriah Kaisser Yamson, a Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Science (BSEd-Science) pre-service teacher, who also earned Second Place in the final ranking following the demonstration teaching round.

The congress, themed “The Next Chapter: Stepping into the Teaching Profession,” gathered teacher interns from reputable colleges and universities in the region. Each HEI was allowed to submit only one lesson plan entry, making the competition highly selective.

The College of Education submitted Yamson’s lesson plan on January 26, 2026. In compliance with the guidelines, all lesson plans were anonymized to ensure fair and unbiased evaluation. The entries were assessed by a panel of three Department of Education (DepEd) experts using a standardized rubric aligned with the MATATAG Curriculum under DepEd Order No. 010, s. 2024.

Out of the nine submitted lesson plans from established HEIs in the region, SC’s entry advanced to the Top 3, as announced on February 6. The finalists then proceeded to the live demonstration teaching phase during the congress.

Final rankings were determined based on the demonstration performance evaluated by the same DepEd panel. The official results were:

* 1st Place: Leyte Normal University

* 2nd Place: Samar Colleges, Inc.

* 3rd Place: Palompon Institute of Technology

This milestone further strengthens Samar Colleges, Inc.’s reputation as a leading institution in developing future educators ready to step confidently into the teaching profession.
