CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines – The Samar Colleges, Inc. – Supreme Student Council (SC-SSC) launched the "Duhol Paglaom Donation Drive" following the fire that struck Brgy. 3, Pier 2, Catbalogan City, at around 1:00 PM on June 5, 2026.
Led by SC-SSC President Joshua Tayong and SC-SSC Adviser Ms. Charnym Toleran, the donation drive was organized after the council identified SC students among those affected by the fire. Several students and their families experienced losses as a result of the incident, including clothing, school supplies, and other essential belongings, prompting the council to initiate the donation campaign.
According to data gathered by the SC-SSC, a total of 57 students were affected by the fire. Of this number, 18 students were from the College of Criminal Justice Education (CoCJE), 18 from the College of Education (CoEd), 10 from the College of Business and Management (CBM), 8 from the Samar College Technological Institute (SCTI), 2 from the College of Information Technology and Allied Sciences (CITAS), and 1 from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS).
To help address immediate needs, the SC-SSC accepted monetary and in-kind donations. Donations received included clothes, canned goods, ready-to-eat food, rice, hygiene kits, and other essential items.
As part of the relief efforts, the SC-SSC distributed ready-to-eat food, rice, and hygiene kits through its office. On June 15, 2026, SC-SSC Treasurer Janice C.
