The Office of the Institutional Research, Innovation, and Service for Extension (IRISE) spearheaded a meeting on September 1, 2025, at Samar College, following the approval of two institutional research proposals. The meeting brought together the Research Committee and faculty-researchers from the College of Education (CoEd) and the College of Criminal Justice Education (CoCJE) to discuss their implementation.

The approved studies, titled “Predictors of the College of Education Students’ Performance on the Licensure Examination for Teachers” and “Predictors of the College of Criminal Justice Education Students’ Performance on the Criminologist Licensure Examination,” aim to identify factors that influence students’ performance in their respective board examinations. These initiatives form part of the institution’s broader efforts to strengthen academic programs and improve licensure passing rates.

In the rationale, Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso, Senior Vice President for Programs Development and Quality Assurance (PDQA), stressed the need to strengthen the institution’s innovation and research culture for us to be able to achieve Samar Colleges’ preferred future.

Meanwhile, Mr. Victor M. Plasabas Jr., OIC Director for IRISE and study leader for these projects, presented the rationale, benefits, scope, methodologies, and the research team that will carry out the studies.

An open forum followed, where committee members and faculty-researchers shared feedback, raised clarifications, and offered suggestions for refinement.

The two researches are scheduled to begin this September and conclude in January 2026.
