As the new school year approaches, the Office of the Programs Development and Quality Assurance (PDQA) is set to roll out Project PREPARE (Proactive Review Enhancement Program for Achieving Remarkable Examination Results), a transformative initiative designed to improve how teacher education students prepare for the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT). With the introduction of an innovative Learning Management System (LMS), this project will provide future educators with a flexible, comprehensive, and highly accessible platform to enhance their exam readiness—anytime, anywhere.
Central to Project PREPARE is the Moodle-based LMS containing an extensive set of practice questions aligned with the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC)’s Table of Specifications (TOS). The platform covers both General Education and Professional Education areas, allowing students to engage in self-paced review sessions that reinforce their knowledge and refine their exam strategies at their convenience.
The content for the LMS has been carefully curated by the Technical Working Group (TWG), under the guidance and leadership of the Senior Vice President for PDQA, Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso, who is also the project’s author. The question bank was compiled by Ms. Ritchelle D. Jabagat, OIC-Director for Institutional Research and Quality Assurance (IRQAO), and encoded by Ms. Rubelyn L. Asorez, PDQA Student Assistant, ensuring that all materials are up-to-date and accurately reflect the TOS for the LEPT set by PRC. The technical development of the platform was led by Mr. Peter Lee M. Lacanlale, OIC-Director for Information Systems and Support Office (ISSO), who employed innovative design principles to create a user-friendly and efficient LMS.
Though primarily intended for third year Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) and Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) students to give them a head start before their graduation year, the LMS will be available to all College of Education (CoEd) students. This allows everyone to begin their LEPT preparation early and build a solid foundation for their exam. Additionally, this project will soon extend to students from the College of Criminal Justice Education for the Criminology Licensure Examination (CLE), which is currently in the process of development.
This is the result of a close collaboration among Dr. Cardoso, Dr. Letecia R. Guerra, Vice President for Basic Education; Dr. Nimfa T. Torremoro, CoEd Dean; and Ms. Ronalyn D. Abaigar, LET Review Coordinator. This partnership highlights the institution's commitment to academic excellence by equipping students with the resources they need to thrive in their future careers.
With its full implementation set for the upcoming school year (2025-2026), Project PREPARE is poised to become a game-changer, offering students a modern, digital-first approach to LEPT preparation.
Ultimately, Project PREPARE is more than just a review program—it's an essential step toward ensuring our future educators are ready to lead, inspire, and make a meaningful impact in the classroom. Guided by our school's mantra, Focus and Rise in Samar College, this initiative empowers students to stay focused on their goals and rise above challenges as they prepare for their professional journeys.
